About Me – Bilawal Zia

Hello! I’m Bilawal Zia, an experienced and certified IB MYP/DP Mathematics instructor, as well as an IB DP Mathematics Examiner. Currently, I am working at American Pacific International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

My teaching approach is student-centered, encouraging active participation, discussions, and presentations. As an IB educator, I integrate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) connections into each module, fostering critical thinking and inquiry beyond just learning facts.

For IB MYP Mathematics, I incorporate Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, helping students become lifelong learners. I also guide students through MYP math e-assessments, offering technology sessions to enhance their understanding.

In IB DP Mathematics, I strategically begin Internal Assessments (IA) in the last quarter of the first year, ensuring students have ample time to refine their work before focusing on final exams in the second year. Beyond using GDC calculators, I integrate tools like GeoGebra to connect abstract mathematical concepts with real-world applications, making learning more engaging and meaningful.

Additionally, I tailor my teaching methods to support English Language Learners (ELL students), using differentiated strategies to ensure an inclusive and effective learning environment.

My goal is to empower students with the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to excel in IB Mathematics!
